There are all tastes in Christmas lights, some like the simple string of white lights outlining the drive or maybe the front of the house. Others are not going to be happy with anything short of a whole sea of multicolored lights blanketing the entire yard or at least those spaces not taken up by life sized lighted figures and don’t forget the lighted reindeer on the roof. Thankfully there is a lot of space between the two extremes. With a noticeable increase in the electric bill for the month of December, if you’re on the high end, maybe its time to look at some solar Christmas lights, they may be just the thing that you’re looking for. They come in about all colors and styles, and they are very economical, as they run from a battery or several, which is charged of a daytime by a solar collector.

Rope lights are a string of lights that are placed inside of soft flexible tubing which provides more protection for the lights and makes them more water tight. These lights are usually placed around windows, decks or railings.

String lights are just how they sound, just a string of lights similar to the old lights that were put on the Christmas tree. These can be strung where ever you want, and are very popular.

Net lights are another improvement on the traditional string light; here the wires for the lights are formed into a net so that they are easier to hang in an open area to form a sort of wall of lights. Or they could be placed on a wall or wrapped around a tree or outdoor bush.

And then we have all of the specialized lighting just for Christmas such as the animals and Santa figures all light by solar powered lights. A lot of these are your standard solar lights such as pole lights or solar garden lights with multicolored lights or light covers in the shape of Santa or angels or even elves.

Other Christmas decorations are not lights themselves but are some form of scene such as a nativity scene or maybe a sleigh and reindeer which are then illuminated by something like a spot light to make them viewable at night, and what better than a solar spot light to save energy and still get that scene lit up at night.

Wait is that a solar powered reindeer that I see up on the roof?
