The outside solar lights that we install around our homes serve us in good ways by beautifying our patios, gazebos or any other area where we put them. To some people the main purpose of installing these are to use them for security lights and for some it’s all about making your home have a beautiful exterior look at night, but I usually think about how I can make them last longer by ensuring that they are always well maintained and in clean condition.

How To Clean Solar Lights.

Just like the lights inside your home, you don’t want to have dusty lights all around the exterior of your house either. Cleaning these only takes a few minutes and helps your solar patio lights last longer and burn brighter at night.

How Do I Clean the Solar Light Panels?

Most lights will just require a simple wiping down of the solar panel that supplies power to the light and the lights plastic or glass cover over the light to keep it clean. Or since they are waterproof you can always just rinse them off with some mild soap and your garden hose while watering your lawn during the summer time. If they are really dirty (from rain water splashing mud on them, for example) you can always use a wet soft cloth and a mild dish washing soap to scrub them clean. Most of the time when you buy solar lights the manufacturer will have instructions on the box telling you the best way to keep them clean and at maximum performance for a long time.

If you have solar lamp posts at the end of your driveway make sure you clean all the way down the post and if the paint is starting to chip or getting dull (or even if you want to change its color) you can always repaint it after cleaning it to bring it back to life.
